Ju Percussion Group [ Picture the Percussion ]
With rich body language, percussion music of the creative types of musical theater, the Ju Percussion Group is not only one of the leading percussion music groups in Taiwan but also a breaker of the barriers enclosing serious music. Picture the Percussion did not merely demonstrate their excellent performing skills but also showed abundant visual and acoustic originality. They are indeed an index of the dynamics of Taiwan music.

National Symphony Orchestra[ NSO Opera Series – “Don Giovanni” ]
With a bold modern approach, Don Giovanni by the National Symphony Orchestra proved to be a smooth and integrated performance due to the harmonious working of many elements under the cooperation of Stan Lai, the director, and Wen-Pin Chien, the conductor and music director. The local vocalists equable and outstanding performances more than anything rendered explicitly the many complicated pieces of ensemble singing in this opera.

National Symphony Orchestra[ NSO Opera Series –"Norma" ]
Michael Li, the director, dressed all the characters in contrasting costumes of the ancient and the modern so as to turn the story of Norma into a three-dimensional structure. And his “effortless” approach to the opera against its tragic and heavy mood subtly presented the story and, at the same time, added to the significance of this epoch-making performance. Through the superb vocalists, Tai-li Chu, Chong-boon Liau and Yi-lin Hsu dedicated this work of perfect bel canto to us.

Directed by Chun-fang TAI[ Willow Dreams of Plum from Peony Pavilion-- A Traditional Chinese Kun Opera in Experimental Theatre ]
By locating the soft and faraway Kun-opera language of performance into the narrative time and space of modern theater, transforming lines and lyrics into interesting visual counterparts, Willow Dreams of Plum from Peony Pavilion presented the beauty of elegance, simplicity and smoothness. At the same time, the comical-collage approach to the traditional Kun-opera preserved its original style as much as granted it a modern interpretation, which made it something fresh and new among all the creations in Taiwan’s experimental theater. This was indeed a starting point worthy of our encouragement.

Taipei Dance Circle[ Body Water ]
The layering and composing of the space for dancing were versatile, the choreography was finely structured, and the skill to change and move the center of gravity was unique. The challenge of dangerous moves, the outcry of inner voices, and the performing energy accumulated in the simple and powerful form together contributed to the integrity of this crowning work that Taipei Dance Circle has been developing for years.

Sun Son Theatre[ Aurora ]
Aurora, though largely similar to the works of Sun Son Theatre in the past, was removed of unnecessary complexity and artificiality, effectively worked out a mysterious and stirring atmosphere, and led the participants through a feast of performing arts. This was a continuous experiment in the alternative field in Taipei and worthy of our appreciation.
