Final Selection

In order to select works that can complete in a world arena, the Taishin Foundation invites international professionals to join local jurors in the final selection. Jury of the perfoming and visual arts each select one winner from the finalists of each category. The entire procedure is documented by video to reveal different points of view, and the compilation is released after the announcement of the winners.

YANG Mei-Ying
YANG Mei-Ying << Back
YANG Mei-Ying is a playwright and critic. She currently serves as Artistic Director of That Theatre Troupe. She is also an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Drama Creation and Application at the National University of Tainan and the College of Liberal Arts at Southern Taiwan University of Technology. In addition, she writes the column The City Stroller’s Delights. For numerous years, she has served as a member of the Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Programming Committee as well as a nominator and final selection juror for the Taishin Art Awards.

Her recent focus is “site-specific performance,” including writing and directing Private Correspondence, A Portrait of Four Beauties 1210, Bamboo Grove, etc. She is the curator of the independent co-production Another City, Another Life: A Sexual Fetish Diary and created the original play Endless 18. Her numerous publications and essays include Notes on Light and Shadow, Kaohsiung Performing Arts: An Anthology of Contemporary Theater, “The Role of the Arts and Humanities within a Liberal Arts Education: From Recovery of the Senses through Theatrical Performance to the Myriad Values behind Saving Lives,” and “From History’s Repetition to Mass Uproar: The Emergence of the Small Theater Scene in Tainan, 1989–1998”, etc.
