Sound of the Wind: WANG Chung-Kun

Sound of the Wind: WANG Chung-Kun Solo Exhibition

Dates: June 25 to 27, 2018

Intangible are the wind and sound, and only through the senses of touch and hearing can one perceive them.

Since 2006, WANG Chung-Kun has been focusing on creating mechanical sound installations, creating mechanical works that can form unique rhythms and variations in their persistent yet lively way. In recent years, the artist has incorporated the aspect of human senses into his thinking about sounds, attempting to combine the representation of sounds with visual and spatial ambience in the form of sculpture.

This summer, Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture invites Wang to exhibit his Sound of the Wind series. In this series, intangible wind is manifested by delicately balanced sculptures that are similar to weather vanes powered by natural wind and the flow of air caused by human movement. Sound-making devices connected to the weather vanes will produce sporadic sounds when unexpected spinning takes place.
