At the beginning of 2015, The Big Onion on the Road travels to Taishin Financial Holdings. In the past, whenever The Big Onion traveled to a new place, it created a new spatial atmosphere in its interior space through a cross-disciplinary artistic collaboration. Audience who entered into The Big Onion could undergo a unique spatial experience through the expansion of the five senses. The word “bank” has inspired a new creative idea in this collaboration as The Big Onion came to Taishin. For the cross-disciplinary artistic collaboration this time, the “Art Bank” established by the Ministry of Culture became a mediator, and Shih-fu Yu’s was selected from the Art Bank’s collection and installed inside The Big Onion. For one thing, this installation would change the spatial atmosphere in The Big Onion, for another, this approach would transform The Big Onion into a small independent museum, allowing an interesting exhibition (the space) to house other pieces of art, creating an exhibition within another exhibition. In the meantime, because of the overlapping keyword “bank,” the staff of Tashin could also reflect upon the relation between “art” and “bank” in terms of a bank’s social role.
