Surprising Paradise by Onion Hsu

Artist Yang-Tsung Hsu who is adept at modern sculpture, photography and product design creates works with new shapes and space and develops new applications and forms which differ from traditional materials. He often draws inspirations from daily objects and plastic products, taking a new path in hopes of creating a surprising yet familiar joy to the audience. His new work “Surprising Paradise” will be exhibited in the lobby of Taishin Tower.

Hsu’s “casual yet ambitious” philosophy of creation has marked the relationship between the artist and his works. With simple tools, delicate craft, both intuitive and rational aesthetics, he builds, combines and forms his works from scratch. Based on the idea of “unleashing the aesthetic genes of ready-mades or semi ready-mades,” he decomposes and reconstructs daily plastic objects into new shapes and delivers a new sense of material aesthetics through built-in lights.

In the exhibition, colorful plastic objects are made into portable illuminants in a casual and elegant display, presenting a floral image in the post-structural space installation. A cascade of radiating objects creates a kaleidoscopic stage scene which builds up a sense of relaxation, romance and modernism in multi-perspectives. It is attempted to visually construct “an anticipated or seductive ambiance and a venue for spiritual interaction and message exchange.” For busy metropolitans, this is a visual feast as well as a “Surprising Paradise.”
