We Will Fly No Matter What

In 2010, Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture launched a new art program, the "project-oriented" art production. The philosophical idea behind this program is to generate dialogue between artists and art institutions, such as the Taishin Arts Foundation, so that institutional support, not only financially but more conceptually, may contribute to the production of contemporary art. "We Will Fly No Matter What" is the third brain child of this new program.
A three-phase hybrid creative project, "We Will Fly No Matter What" took off in April, 2011 and finished the cruise in the summer of 2012. During this period, the "Weather Group," a temporary team formed by members from the artist group Luxury Logico and the Taishin Arts Foundation, visited 258 elementary schools and collected drawings from 37,200 children, making them a three-dimensional animated weather bird. As a member of the Weather Group comments on their exhaustive trips to schools in urban and rural areas, "Every time when we stepped into a classroom, our fatigue was quickly replaced by excitement and joy. The smiles of all the little painters constantly moved us. Their inspiring words also encouraged us to reflect on ourselves and savor all those stories that happened in every corner of Taiwan."
The Weather Group is grateful for having had this opportunity to fly as a bird to visit all those places. Now Luxury Logico is proud to announce that the project has reached its last phase—"hidden creation." Following by that, we will be prepared to have this collectively nourished weather bird fly farther as a gift from Taiwan to the world.
Starting in September, the documents of the first and second phases are exhibited respectively at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Taipei and the Taishin Tower.

About the Artist
Luxury Logico is formed by CHEN Chih-Chien, LIN Kun-Ying, CHANG Keng-Hau, and CHANG Geng-Hwa, four of them were all born in the 80s. Before their formation, they worked separately; one was “Logico”, another one was formed by CHANG Keng-Hau and CHANG Geng-Hwa. The two groups were formed based on the common concept of “hybrid and interdisciplinary forms”. Individually speaking, the two have their own specialization in terms of concept, machinery, programme, and installations, but they are both well known in new media and visual art field. Their creative form and collaborative partners are very diverse. Their recent works include “Bacterial Battling”, “Dot．Dot．Dot”, and stage design for HORSE theatre's production, “Faceless”.
