A Spectacle of New Year's Celebration

A Spectacle of New Year's Celebration

January 17-February 18, 2011

Approaching the end of winter, when the land is still in silence, Taishin Holding invites the design team, Biaugust to bring the joy of Spring to the Taishin Building.

Biaugust uses “birth” as the key concept to develop their work “A Spectacle of New Year’s Celebration,” a new installation specially designed for the Taisin Building. They borrow the four out of the twenty-four Chinese solar terms—“Big Chill”, “Beginning of Spring”, “Rain”, and “Waking of insects” –to represent the rhythmic changes of the four seasons. While the audiences walk through the installation, a subtle sensorial conversation also seems to begin taking place alongside them.

One by one forming into shapes, and step by step, the pieces come together to form a large-scale installation. Via the duplication of the red and white floral elements, the work seems to be breeding out boundless vital forces from the land. With an environmental spirit, the Biaugust uses polypropylene from the recycled plastic bottles to create new values for the materials. Meanwhile, the use of recycled materials also reminds us our responsibility to our land. The imagery of the four solar terms will take us across the winter and welcome the sunlight of Spring. The vitality hence emerges, and the joy of Rabbit year expands!
