a sparkle, a glitter
growing up in Vienna
christmas time was always something special
even if i am not christian
but growing up in such a city
some parts and values in me where shaped by these customs and traditions
as a child the days and weeks ahead of this celebration where filled with
excitement or anticipation - a fascination
and it wasn\'t the celebration itself - since we - our family didn\'t celebrate christmas
but it was the city, the atmosphere
the world seemed transformed into a little bit closer of a magical place
it wasn\'t the snow
the presents
or the singing
or the scent that floated, that fumed from the bakeries and homes preparing cakes and cookies
but it was the lights entering the city
that filled the streets
the candles in the windows of homes
the lights that illuminated the markets in the evening
the decoration filling the streets
a glitter, a sparkle
making all winter
making all coldness
making all darkness
all forget
and the city
a starry night
within christmas and pagan tradition light always played a crucial role
the shooting star above the crib
the star that guided the kings
the fire that brought light and warmth
bringing people together
for
Taishin X-Chandelier
the idea was to create a Chandelier (that resembles some bit a tree hanging upside down from the ceiling)
it was particular created having the Taishin building\'s foyer in mind
people passing underneath it while rushing daily to the office
but also giving a chance to gather around it, bringing people together
to pause for a moment
the chandelier would be made of the same material - fluorescent light -
that is found in all the floors above it
in the offices of the Taishin bank
creating a connection between the chandelier - and the employees working situation and moments
stressing the lighting in their offices but also the light - and its importance for this season
giving the same fluorescent lights a different connotation
something festive
something warm
and something of a little kid
starring at all these lights with his/her eyes and mouth wide open
