Comments on the Finalist

As pollution and poisons that originate at the center of an industrial social environment often arise from modern science and technology along with the greed of humanity, the creator of “CH3CCI3 Releaser” employs dance, theater, modern poetry, avant-garde music, installations, the visual realm of fine arts, and movements of daily life to present the toxic chemical element “trichlorethane” as a path of propagation and a threat to survival. The work is a sign of the culture and a satire of an absurd play with wild body language.  It reflects the difficulty of escaping the essential significance of life in society, the deteriorating environment and the dark distortion of human nature, as well as the evil consequences of irrational behavior.   Space is utilized to offer a multi-layered, stereoscopic effect with each door and window representing a section of the performance area.  The adaptation of body movements is abundant and explosive.  Exaggerated movements recall the style of dance theatre, and the poetic atmosphere ingeniously reflects the modern state of mind and environmental consciousness through their bountiful creativity and intensity.By Committee Member Te-hai CHEN
