It shows more than good results in integrating different artistic works in coordination with the environment of exhibition.
Its curator excels in overcoming many difficulties of this exhibition, such as the ideological conflicts from its government sponsor and the natural conditions of the forest.
Its curator and artists complement each other in showing great teamwork efforts: the curator offers sound explications to the artists' works, while the artists present works outscoring their past achievements.
Unlike usual exhibitions, it stands as a medium to change the society via its humanism and inspiration.
With extremely limited budget, its curator integrates all the available resources and praiseworthily expands it further to the No. 20 Warehouse in Taichung.
Artwork Introduction
"Forest Calling", a community-based event happened in an old, governmental forestry which had been suspended for 30 years. It was almost like a ritual of celebrating the new life cycle of the historical site and it's welcoming of the town people outside of the high walls, also an aristic therapy of the trauma from the earthquake disaster and a questioning of the public policy in forest and natural resources during the high days of the old forestry.
The art projects in the festival were composed of two parts. One invitational of modern sculptural forms in wood, the other one a site-specific installation project. All the installation works were therefore newly made specific for both venues.
About the Artist
Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University, and got her art education master degree at the University of Cincinnati in US. Now, she is as the qssociate professor of Fine Art Department in Tunghai University.For many years working in art areas, she is very experienced in the art administration and research projects. She did not only coodinated, as a curator, Forest Calling, Old Forestry vs. Railroad Stock these activities, but also handled the reseach project: Reuse of the Ta Hsueh Shan Old Forestry, Project of the Management & Development of the Taichung Seaport Art Museum. Her solo exhibitions include: Language of the Carrier, Plant / Thing:Works on Paper, etc.
