Cultivating a creative and healthy environment in Taiwan is one of the most important roles for Taishin Bank. Earlier this year, the Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture initiated a brand new campaign using arts and culture to enrich the lives and help inspire a more promising future for new immigrant parents and their children.
With the help of The Good Shepherd Sisters Congregation, parents and kids of new immigrant families from nationwide spent a day with various artists in workshops. Unlike most art projects, these workshops are not designed for arts educational purpose but rather focused on providing the experience through the use of arts as a medium to inspire creativity, both in thinking and in learning.
We recognized that new immigrants are a vital part of our generation and population growth. Coming from Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines, they are hardworking and creative individuals, mostly women in the work force or at home, making important contributions to our society’s economic and social development.
On August 18 & 25, 2007,Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture will present two full day workshops with the help of Taipei Artist Village and The Good Shepherd Sisters Congregation. Families from Yilan and Taipei will be gathered in TAV for a full day of creativity and fun.
Artist Lan Ya HUANG will be using face painting material for her workshop, helping families to tell their own story with color expression and visual body language.
Performing group Taipei Chi Drum Group Director Chia Chi CHANG will be jamming with these families using various drumming instruments to inspire musical expression and movement.
Finally, on August 25th, artist Cheng Tsai CHEN will help parents and children to use photography and darkroom technique to paint their own picture of a happy family.
Designed by TAV and various artists, the collaborative efforts of these workshops aim to touch the heart of these families through the process of creativity and arts. The interactive and fun way of learning will sure bring laughter and joy for this summer.
As part of mission for our corporate social responsibility, it is the foundation’s hope that these activities through the journey of arts will bring to the families a healthy and memorable experience.
