Final Selection

In order to select works that can complete in a world arena, the Taishin Foundation invites international professionals to join local jurors in the final selection. Jury of the perfoming and visual arts each select one winner from the finalists of each category. The entire procedure is documented by video to reveal different points of view, and the compilation is released after the announcement of the winners.

ONG Keng Sen
ONG Keng Sen << Back
ONG Keng Sen is the Artistic Director of TheatreWorks in Singapore. A renowned performance director, he is best known for his contributions to the development of diverse Asian aesthetics and the subsequent transglobalisation of these aesthetics in contemporary arts. He studied intercultural performance with New York University, and also holds a law degree. His work entails creating processes, such as in The Flying Circus Project, as well as research with emerging artists.

He founded the In Transit Festival for the Haus der Kulteren der Welt in Berlin and served as artistic director/curator from 2001-3. He has taught at numerous universities including Das Arts Amsterdam, UCLA, the University of Amsterdam and he is currently Adjunct Associate Professor, National University of Singapore. He is also the founder of Arts Network Asia, an organization that enables collaborative projects in Asia through microgrants. A Fulbright Scholar, Mr. Ong was awarded the prestigious Fukuoka Prize in 2010 for his work in Asian contemporary performance.
