Final Selection

In order to select works that can complete in a world arena, the Taishin Foundation invites international professionals to join local jurors in the final selection. Jury of the perfoming and visual arts each select one winner from the finalists of each category. The entire procedure is documented by video to reveal different points of view, and the compilation is released after the announcement of the winners.

Carolelinda Dickey has an extensive background in arts management, including seven years as the founding Executive Director of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. As Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Dance Council from 1987 to 1999, she programmed 12 seasons of national and international dance. In 1999, she founded Performing Arts Strategies, a consultancy on program evaluation/development and public policy for national philanthropic foundations. Ms. Dickey currently serves as Co-director of the Internationale Tanzmesse NRW in Germany and Co-director of American Dance Abroad.

Her primary focus is international cultural exchange. A frequent speaker on the subject, Ms. Dickey has given talks at global conferences and testified before the U.S. Congress on the issues and concerns of touring artists. Improving Access, her report for the Rockefeller Foundation on non-immigrant visas for foreign artists, has been widely lauded. Her most recent report is Dance America: A Strategy to Export American Dance, co-authored with Andrea Snyder.
